The Hearing Aid Program for Seniors who don't have a Medicare Advantage Plan with Hearing Coverage
80% of the people who need hearing aids don't have them, and the #1 reason in the price. Most hearing loss is correctable and to us it's not fair that the ridiculous mark-up on quality hearing devices keeps good people from enjoying conversations and living their lives as they should.
I'm not an original thinker, but I'm pretty good at taking someone's good idea and applying it to a different situation. Most Medicare Advantage Plans offer very affordable hearing aids so I took their business model and reworked it so we could offer huge discounts, just like they do, but in our 65 Plus Plan we offer it to seniors who don't have a Hearing Aid Benefit.
But we finally convinced a major manufacturer to work with us, and honestly we could not offer you these great prices without their help. Our plan is what we lose in mark-up we'll gain back in volume. For us, the real payback is in helping as many people as possible to hear again and regain the quality of life they were missing because of their hearing loss.
Our Mission:
"To make hearing aids affordable while providing excellent service"
Since 2014, thousands of people have come to our stores and collectively saved millions of dollars through a business model that focuses on low overhead, to allow low prices, which in turn creates high volume.
Several years ago we started working with Medicare Advantage Plans and other insurance companies through what are known as Third Party Administrators. The pay is horrible, which is why so many hearing aid providers refuse to work with them. We don't like the fee structure either, but their programs fit our mission of making hearing aids affordable, so we felt we had to get onboard.
We came to realize that the key to success in our business model was not so much how many dollars we made per hearing aid, but how many hearing aids we could fit. Our most profitable months were the ones when we fit the most Third Party devices.
(A patient using their Third Party Administrator plan, aka 3PA, doesn't buy from us, but from the 3PA. We get a fee of a few hundred dollars to test, evaluate, fit and support the patient during the first year. The typical Private Practice or Chain Stores mark up their hearing aids by thousands, not hundreds, thus the ridiculous high prices.)
I'm not a very good capitalist and from my religious upbringing have a very strong belief in treating people fairly. Realizing I could pay my overhead on the measly fees paid by 3PA's, this nagging voice kept asking "If you will do it for the profit stealing 3PA's, why won't you offer the same pricing structure to your other patients?
Well, there are lots of reasons: we have to stock, process and track inventory, take the loss on credit card sales, and the big one, advertise to let them know about our program. Yet, I'm doing it anyway.
My combination of guilt and goodwill brings me to this program that my competition will abhor and tear apart because there is no way they can compete with the quality and technology at these prices. Their overhead is just too high.
